Chandipura Virus was first discovered in 1965 in a village called Chandipura in Maharashtra. Because of that, the virus is called Sandipura virus. This sandibura virus is mostly spread among children. The Sandipura virus is Sandipura vesiculovirus (CHPV), an RNA virus belonging to the Rhabtoviridae family. This RNA virus also includes the rabies virus caused by dog bites.
