From November 1 Delhi Will Allow Only BS6 CNG or Electric Commercial Vehicles

Delhi is looking forward to a future with less pollution and better air quality with the Delhi Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025. Pollution has traditionally peaked every winter, making this an auspicious moment to take such a step. The capital city is already paving the way from intention to action on everything from smarter traffic systems to greener vehicles.

Among the key highlights are a solid ban on End-of-Life Vehicles (EoLVs), only admitting BS-VI vehicles, CNG, and electric vehicles, with the support of the Delhi EV Policy 2025, more electric buses, more autos to be stationed near Metro stations, and a ramp up of EV charging station infrastructure.

To mitigate vehicle pollution, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) will catch the recalcitrant offender, while the use of real-time vehicle emissions information and scheduled supervision of PUC centers, will clean up the roads. For dust mitigation, the government can now deploy more anti-smog guns, mist sprayers, and water sprayers on hot spots.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will be helped along with green initiatives like the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam scheme that asks each citizen of Delhi to plant a tree, and in another new twist, the use of cloud seeding in collaboration with IIT Kanpur.
