Lord Krishna incarnated as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the Dvapara Yuga. The purpose of this incarnation is to destroy adharma and establish dharma. Accordingly Lord Krishna destroyed the Kauravas and protected the Pandava brothers and established dharma. We can know this from Mahabharata. "Bhagavad Gita" is the holy book of the Hindu people and the instructions given by Kannan (Krishna) to Arjuna as a charioteer in the Bharata war.
