Osteonecrosis is a disease in which bone cells dies or bones collapse due to lack of blood flow to the bones. It is also known as avascular necrosis, aseptic necrosis or ischemic necrosis. Osteonecrosis is most commonly developed in hip bone (femur) or knees, while less often in shoulder, wrist, ankle, hands, and feet. It can cause mild to severe pain and may lead to micro-fracture.
