Unicode (UTF-8) CharsetUnicode (UTF-8) Charset

Unicode character set which is also known as UTF-8 is developed by the Unicode Consortium. The standard for the Unicode charset and its subsets is named Unicode standard. Over the years a lot of different character sets are developed by different entities. This has created a mess where compatibility and portability are very low. So the main goal of the Unicode Consortium is to unify the character sets in a single umbrella. The umbrella is named “Unicode Transformation Format” or simply UTF. The UTF-8 is a subset of the UTF. The UTF-8 is the most popular subset of the UTF character set family. When the terms “Unicode”, “UTF” are expressed they simply used to refer to the UTF-8.
