India’s Ministry of Road Transport has banned cash at toll booths. From April 2026, only FASTag or UPI payments are accepted. FASTag remains the economical choice, while UPI costs 1.25x the toll fee. Non-compliance means denied entry or double charges. A new multi-lane free-flow tolling system ensures faster, barrier-free travel. Frequent commuters can save with an annual FASTag pass (₹3,075 for 300 crossings).
